Looking for 1080p 144hz display with PNY 1080TI Founders Edition

So I made the unfortunate mistake of buying a PNY 1080TI Founders Edition back when video cards were still at normal prices. I bought it in a hurry since every shop was almost out of stock and a certain computer parts shop, the owner of which is a good friend, was selling me the card at close to MSRP.

I had a 1060 3GB from MSI (red and black version) and a BENQ XL2411Z. The monitor only supports 144hz through the DVI port. I could game on 144hz fine with the MSI 1060, since it had a DVI port.

But this 1080TI FE does not have a DVI port. So I'm in a bit of a mess.

The only solution I found after researching online is to buy a Display Port to DVI Active Adapter which runs 100$ or so.. therefore I'm considering replacing my display.

I need a monitor with the following:

-144hz on 1080p/1440p

-compatibility with my 1080TI FE

-isn't too expensive

-preferably not too bulky in design but that's optional

Also, is it really worth getting a G Sync monitor? It feels like it's too much money down the drain for what seems to be a 'nice to have' rather than a necessity. I haven't really seen much screen tearing, or maybe it's because I don't exactly know the difference.

Help a brother out here guys! Really sucks to have a beast of a rig but only be able to game on 1080p 60hz lol.

why do you want a 1080 ti if your 1060 is good enough for your display? have you consider flipping your gpu instead and keep your 1060? otherwise dont buy something like this as it does not support 144hzhttps://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-Display-Converter-Gold-Plated/dp/B01GPMRXL0/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527275172&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=displayport+to+dvi&psc=1

Those are DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI adapters which will be limited to 60 Hz at 1080p. For a 144 Hz monitor a Dual-Link DVI adapter is required, which is around $100. All DisplayPort to "Dual-Link" passive adapters around $10 are fake.

I would get an Asus VG248QE.

The VG248QE is one of the first 144 Hz monitors ever made, from around 2013 or so if I recall correctly. It was decent at the time, but today there are many options which are far superior in every way while cheaper, such as the ViewSonic XG2401 or AOC G2460PF, or in a similar price range, the Samsung C24FG73, which uses a Quantum dot backlit VA panel, if you don't mind a curved display.

OP you can also use this adapter up to 120 Hz, it's much cheaper than other Dual-Link adapters:
