Do you mean transferring the Windows license from your laptop to your new tower? No, OEM licenses (which is what laptops come with unless you add in your own key) are tied to the system. Retail licenses on the other hand are transferable.

I've found that sometimes you can get 1 extra use from an OEM license. Worth a try, but don't count on it. Rip the key with this.

No. But you can install an unlicensed copy. Also, try Linux, Ubuntu or mint. They can do everything windows can, minus some gaming needs.

Are you a college student? See if you might be eligible for a free license through your school.

Thank you to everybody who responded, helps a lot. shame i cant use the windows from my laptop tho.
