Looking for 144hz Monitor a good idea?

Ryan_1998

Hi I am looking for a 144 hertz monitor is this a good idea with these pc specs?

I play game like overwatch, fortnite, competitive min craft and Battle Field types of games and a little bit of league.

Any suggestions to what monitor would be best?

While your machine would probably run 144Hz at 1080 just fine, I don't think you'd see much of an improvement, you'd probably be better off getting either a 4k or 1440p 60Hz screen and having the higher resolution. But it's down to personal preference really, depending on what you choose, I'll see what I can recommend.

The difference between 60 and 144hz is pretty big for gaming so I think he would especially in overwatch/fortnite/lol

In FPS games I see how it could improve the experience, but equally I think a higher resolution would help because of the improved quality and detail, allowing him to see more, really it will depend on personal preference and if he'd prefer a smoother or more detailed experience. The monitors suggested above look pretty good, might look at getting one for myself.

4k doesn't help performance in an fps like overwatch, more frames do.

That makes sense thinking about it, I've also figured that a higher resolution letting you see more detail would be better, but I see how more frames would definitely help. Today I have done a learned.

Freesync is an amd technology, you'll have to get gsync if you want something

@Ryan_1998 I bought this monitor yesterday at Bestbuy. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4yGj4D/dell-s2716dgr-270-2560x1440-144hz-monitor-s2716dgr

If you want something smaller and cheaper, go with this. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CwgPxr/dell-s2417dg-238-165hz-monitor-s2417dg

Both support G-sync which will benefit your GPU greatly. Both of these monitors are perfect for the games you play and your GPU is 6GB. Mine is 3GB and handles those games very well in 1440p. Do not buy a 1080p monitor. You can just downscale the 1440p monitor to 1080p if that's what resolution you prefer, no issues.

There are other similar monitors for cheaper but they're nowhere near as good. I also got a 4 year warranty for just $50 on it.
