Nvenc high cpu usage

For some reason when I use Nvenc over x264 I get higher cpu usage. Which doesnt make a whole lot of since considering its suppose to do the opposite. I also average around 60-100 fps with it playing h1z1 with dips into the 40s-50s with usage in the high 20% to 30% with a lot of micro stutters. When I use x264 I get around 100-150s with 15-20% usage. When I use quick sync I get around 130-180s. So my question is why and what can be causing Nvenc to have higher cpu usage? I want to use Nvenc because of the stream quality over quick sync.

Yes sorry I forgot to include that. I have a 7700k with a gtx 1070 16gb of ram

Can't help you with that one, I use the real OBS myself and I have really low CPU-usage with it when using nvenc; maybe that Streamlabs-thing is bugged or just shit, I dunno. Maybe someone else who has used it can chime in.

what settings are you using in streamlabs?

 

I personally use QSV, downscaled to 1440x810 using lanczos 32 samples, with a balanced, profile high. keyframe 2, async depth of 4, CBR of 6000. 

 

There doesn't seem to be any performance hit, i have noticed though that streamlabs uses a minimum of 5% CPU when its just running.

 

I also found the quality of quick sync is about the save as AMD VCE at the same settings.

 

There are a couple of clips on my twitch channel (grayperview) if you want to check the quality.

Right now I am using quick sync with high quality, im trying to use Nvenc 720p 60fps lanczos 32.

 

Why do you down scale? It cant the same way as obs because when I do it the same way as obs it just puts the stream quality at 1440x810.

 

When I use quick sync the quality looks terrible compared to Nvenc and I cant go over 4000 bitrate without problems.

I downscale from 1080p to save bandwidth, streaming at 1080p is not very good at 60fp with only 6000kps to play with (twitch limit not mine).

 

Also only set your down scale setting in the video tab on streamlabs and not in the output tab.

unfortunately I dont think you can down scale on streamlabs obs. Anyways thanks for the help.
