Hello. I am looking to build a multi purpose pc. It will be doing a few things:

- a bit of photoshop / illustrator

- a bit of r /python programming. Usually not too intensive (automatically running web analytics reports etc)

- would like to be able to run xampp locally. So a bit of wordpress development basically.

- I wouldn't mind if it could run some eSports titles maybe even fortnight?

I am looking to spend as little as possible maybe £300 I am in UK lol? I already have a 1tb 2.5 inch SSD. I already have 2x4gb Corsair DDR 1333mhz ram. And I already have an os. Where should I spend my money?

Get a used Dell OptiPlex in the Ivy Bridge Core i5 range. Then maybe save up a bit for a GPU later, you might not be able to fit all of that in a 300 pound budget, but you'll be close.

This would be a nice option. Already comes with RAM but you would be able to mix and match for 16GB.

Wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary. That one I just found through a quick search that seemed a relatively ok deal.

Here's another one, Core i5 this time.

I was expecting people to say something older to be honest.

Core iX-4000 series and below have sort of reached the bottom of their depreciation curve. So you wouldn't be ahead if you chose an older platform. They would cost relatively the same with older performance.

For the OptiPlex 3020, there's only two RAM slots available. The extra 100 pounds could be used towards a GPU for better gaming performance.

The OptiPlex 9020 on the other hand, features 4 RAM slots. So with the 9020, you'll be able to add your current 2 sticks in for a total of 16GB.
