I am in the process of attempting to build a custom water cooling system for a cheap rack server I picked up. I have the water blocks mounted properly and cooling is sufficient.

The issue I am running into is the fan control in this unit. The HP DL380 G5 uses 6 pin hot swappable 60 mm fans. I want to run the server with these disconnected since they are too loud and no longer needed. The bios/ilo throws and error that no fans are connected and shuts down.

Does anyone know how to create a dummy connector that will trick it into believing a fan is connected and working?

That’s helpful - thanks. I’m going to try putting together a 555 pwm board to simulate a fan connection.

Hi

My apologies for reviving an old thread, but I have a question
Any chance you can tell me the parts you used for the set up, and how were you able to mount the CPU block? :)
I also have a DL380 G5 that I want to do this for
