1060 is way better the R9 390

The 1060 is only slightly more powerful than the 390, it's certainly not going to be night and day. I think you should either hold on that 390 and wait for the 1160/1170, or just go with the 1070.

I own a 1060 and I like it a lot, but I think purchasing one would be a mistake in your case.

Hey Guys , i am about to do a major update to my PC , and finally Upgrading to Ryzen 5 2600 (because i won't overclock it) , buying a new motherboard and Ram , up until here everything is nice and dandy but...

Because of the pricing of GPU cards , especially in Israel where we have additional 18% paid in taxes , i have a dilemma and i need your advice...

I am using my computer more as a work station and not as a Gaming PC , although i do game from time to time.

After Comparing 1060 with 1070 i do understand that that the 1070 is a much better card , but beacuse of it's pricing right now i can't simply afford to buy all this things at once , although i can buy a 1060...

So here is the question , if i want to invest a card that will run without issues for the next say 3 years (and no i won't do an SLI ot CrossFire) and if i am using 2 1080p monitors , would 1060 be enough for me ?

thanks for your help in advance...

If you are doing average workstation tasks, a 1060 is plenty of power for that kind of stuff. Unless you are doing CAD or something like that, a 1060 should be enough power.

Also for games, a 1060 should be able to run 2 1080p monitors playing something average at like 30fps maybe

I am a Computer Tech , but i like to game from time to time , maybe i will buy a new monitor later , but it's not like i will be gaming on a 4k monitor or on 1440p even , just a simple plain 1080p one...

maybe i will buy a new 144HZ monitor later , or a 4K but i simply don't need it right now , and i am happy with the monitors that i own..

But if youre getting a 1060 get this one: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jZJkcf/asus-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-dual-video-card-dual-gtx1060-o6g. I have it, and its a wonder, it overclock very high and at good temps.

What about the Evga Version ? and in your opinion 1060 would be enough for me ?

I would suggest a 2600 X, since you are not overclocking it.

This one definitely will. I kinda won the overclock lottery and i can overclock to about 1750mhz at 45c. But it is also advertised to have a high overclock capacity

a 1060 should work fine for you.  the asus card posted is probably a fine card.  My preference would be Evga as i have found less people have issues dealing with them as a company if you by chance have to RMA.

They are both a great cards , and the size of the EVGA card is more appealing to me ;)

I was asking to save as would a 1060 be as good as a 1070 in a few years ? lets say if a new game come out u liked for example

For me chancing a new GPU every 3 years is a Cycle , so even if a good game will come out , i can wait i am a patient guy ;) , and in my own opinion even 1070 won't be enough in 3 years , the question is more about the current times...

If you already own an r9 390, as your signature states, I don't think it's worth paying the current inflated price for a 1060, unless you need CUDA. You'd only get a minor performance improvement, and you'd regret it once Nvidia rolls out the 11-series.

As long as you are willing to lower some settings from time to time in the future the 1060 will be a great card for you. 1070 is more if you don't want to compromise or want higher fps than 60.

There will always be a better GPU , i was looking for a solution for a part time gamer ;) , the market is crazy right now , and i am sick and tired of my R9 390 :)

Of course when the new series is rolling down until the end of the year , the problem is that my VGA can't handle the things that i am throwing on him anymore...

I believe that it will take up to 2 years when i will have to lower down the settings of 1060 , until then it should be fine , it gives a solid 60-75 fps which is enough for me...

And if i will decide to buy a 4K monitor it should handle it fine too...
