Going to college, need a new laptop

Hello there, fellow LTT fans!

I'm planning to buy a new laptop!
Here's some bite-sized facts:

• I'm going to college! (and I'm gonna be broke!)
• I'm taking an Engineering degree (Aerospace Engineer, to be specific)
• I need a study tool
• I currently own a budget laptop, (Dell Inspiron 15 3521)
• Planning to use it for note-taking, possibly CAD, and gaming

Budget: $1000

CPU: 7th or 8th Gen i7

Graphics: Discrete graphics with 4GB VRAM

RAM: 8GB or higher
HDD: 1TB HDD, with SSD for boot

OS: Microsoft Windows 10 (I don't wanna MAC)

Battery Life: Long (10 hours maybe?)

Screen Size: 15

So far, I found Dell Inspiron 15 5577, which looks great for its price
Anybody recommend a different one?

You can get one of those sub $1000 gaming laptops. Due to the place, it obviously will have some downfalls (higher temps, bulkier, bad speakers, etc.) Many of them have a really nice mobile CPU & will usually rock a GTX 1050(w/ or w/o Ti).

 

One that I can think of is the Acer Nitro 5. I've heard that the speakers aren't so hot and the plastic frame can be bendy at times but other than some minor flaws, it will serve well to do some light-medium gaming.

I don't think there are 1060 Lappys available under 1k yet.  The Dell you found might be the best option all around, or you can find a 1050ti model that doesn't have as nice a build as the Dell.  Depends what is most important to you.

Just found out my Uni sells G5 with 1080Ti, and sells it for US$ 949.99, maybe I could consider buying that
