You could be looking at something used,but other than that just wait for a sale.The G810 often goes for 59.99

The strafe and g413 are on sale for 69 at best buy if you can stretch your budget a bit

You can't beat this price for Cherry MX Red:

If you want Blues::

I like Blacks:

Or if you want Browns:

As for which switch type is right for you, you can't figure this out with any kind of online research or asking others what they like. It's something you have to experience yourself, and figure it out that way. I suggest buying a key tester. It'll be $15 well spent, as there's nothing worse than ordering a board you think will be perfect and finding out you can't stand it.

These aren't CPUs...they're keyboards, they don't change all that much, the video is still current and relevant.

I know it's not. And I have read recent reviews I come here to see what your average-enthusiast user would buy.

I'm willing to go the route to buy one and get used to it or return it if I absolutely hate it. Thank you for your input.

Yeah just a year later. Maybe a new brand has hit the market and someone has recently picked it up and would like to recommend it to me. All I'm doing is fishing for user reviews within a community that I trust.

Erm, I understand where you're coming from, but mechanical keyboard models and brands don't change that often compared to something like GPUs, CPUs, or the latest RGB induced item, so you can use that video as a baseline alongside some more current blog-like reviews. Just keep in mind that even if a blog-review is dated to be current, the keyboards they're reviewing could still be years old, so you'd still want to do a lot of research.

First though, have you ever owned a mechanical keyboard? Or have you tried different switches to know what kind of feel you like? I recommend looking at Logitech's offerings with Cherry switches, Corsair's product line, or DAS or Ducky keyboards.

For example, I feel most comfortable typing on Cherry MX Brown's with rubber o-ring dampeners so much so that I'll never switch, pun intended. :D So when I went looking for a work keyboard to match my G710+, I was sorely disappointed at the number of MX Red, Blue, and Black keyboards on the market. For some reason, MX Brown keyboards are hard to find, or stupid expensive in CAD. Anywho, I ended up going with the G610 MX Brown because I didn't need macro keys for work, and it feels like my G710+ does at home.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month
Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Thank you for your input. I do get where your coming from but searching on amazon and seeing like the "red dragon mechanical keyboard" plus like all of the other random "gamey names" I just want some real people to offer me up a decent selection. I think I'm going to go with this. It's not cherry mx but I think I might like it.

The G413 and the G610 are very similar, but just appear to be using different switches. I'm not a fan of the Roamer-G switches, despite what Logitech says about their superiority over Cherry. (read: we don't have to pay licensing fees to Filco anymore.) However, lots of people like them, so don't listen to my opinion, and instead try them out yourself.
