SLI with different brand GPU?

Hi, I have an EVGA GTX 1070 SSC right now and I would like to bump up my performance a little bit.  Is it possible to use a different brand/version like an MSI GTX 1070 for SLI?  I know it's not ideal, but I would like to inquire if it would work.

Aslong as the gpu and memory is the same, the brand shouldn't make a difference.
If the memory speed is mismatched or the memory size is different then the card with the lower/slower memory spec will lock down and dictate the overall spec for the SLI setup.

SLI is a waste of money, just save up for a next generation GPU in a few months.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If you need the extra performance, then go ahead. I'm guessing you have a deal in mind hence the question of a different brand. SLI isn't as bad as most people will make out (and most of those have never even used SLI). Just keep in mind as above, were expecting new Nvidia GPU's in July/August, so if you're paying MSRP for that second 1070, I would hang fire, as in 3 months that same money will get you 1080ti (speculated) performance in the 1170

Should work fine. Temps would be a concern though. Depends on the rig.

If the games are good, they will be better then a 1080 or ti.
