i got the vg248qe in 2014 for 300€,was pretty decent for the price
typical tn colors but a good starting point for 144hz
very little motionblur/ghosting from what i can tell(definitely a lot less than my pg279q),input lag is also pretty low(again just the feel, not measured).

i7 4790K | 4.5ghz @1.19v / 1080 ti strix oc  / Asus Z97 Pro Gamer  / 970 Evo 500GB | 850 Evo 500GB / Corsair 780t white|window

                                                                                   PG279Q | VG248QE/ Corsair ax860i   /   Corsair H110i GTX   /  Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2400mhz /

Do you have any other recommendations for a 144hz monitor in 2018 ?

i'm just talking about my personal experience here, not that much experience in that field, but upgrading to 1440p was a pretty good choice.
however 1440p 144hz is more expensive, idk what your budget is

AOC G2460PF or ViewSonic XG2401 are usually much better options for the price, but depends on your regional pricing of course.

Ive heard some bad things about the aoc(?) And the viewsonic is pretty expensive in Norway, almost 400euro.
