I had a core 2 duo in my pc (i know its old) and i got a core 2 quad for a little performance boost because it uses the same socket so i didnt have to get a new motherboard (i checked and the chipset supports the quad). the box judt came in the mail and i installed the cpu and turned the pc on (the first time i turned it on after installing i forgot the 4-pin cpu power connector in case that might be part of the problem). now windows still shows the core 2 duo as the cpu, but cpu-z actually shows the core 2 quad. also cpu-z shows that i only have to cores wich isnt the case with the core 2 quad. does anyone know what the problem might be? do i need to reinstall windows? maybe its a driver update that just came to my mind while typing this im gonna try it out if it doesnt help i hope one of you guys can tell me.
