God help you. No wonder you're lagging, crashing and freezing, that setup is TERRIBLE. At least get an FX 6350 if you're going with FX and the R7 240 is underpowered as fuck. Your rig is NOT suitable for any sort of rendering or major video edits.

How much did you pay for it? I'm sorry to say but if you paid as much as what the pc you linked in the past is on amazon you got completely ripped off.

See what's hogging up your cpu usage in task manager. If it's all Vegas... there's not much you can do besides upgrade. If it's something else like AV, Chrome, or something else then you should be able to fix it.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Don't even bother with the FX series at this stage. 7 years old and far weaker than even a Ryzen 3.

LMAO the classic phone camera to screenshot

Save your .veg file and reinstall Vegas.

I assume you are using a cracked version. Try downloading a newer one or just using a free editor like DaVinci Resolve

I was also having a crashing issue with Vegas 14 (which I paid for) while I was rendering. It's not entirely your processors fault. I'm running a 5820k at 4.5GHz and was still having the issue.

To fix it I went to the "Details" tab on task manager, right clicked on Vegas, and set it as "Low" priority. I have not had an issue since. I can add screenshots if you'd like.

Options -> Preferences -> Video

Try rendering with "GPU Acceleration" set to off. That's what the steps would be on 14 anyways. The setting could be under hardware or something on 15.

Even with a 6300 that's a ripoff. At the time you probably would've been able to get something like an r5 1600+1050 ti for that price which would've been vastly faster.

What specific 850w psu did you buy? 850w is for sure overkill and you probably only needed 550-650w, at most.

For cpu I'd honestly recommend you just wait and then buy something like an r5 2600 based system, if you want to buy new. Or, if you are willing to go used a 2600k based thing could be OCed pretty heavily.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

God help you. No wonder you're lagging, crashing and freezing, that setup is TERRIBLE. At least get an FX 6350 if you're going with FX and the R7 240 is underpowered as fuck. Your rig is NOT suitable for any sort of rendering or major video edits.

Its not top of the line but it will still work.  This forum creates some unrealistic standards of acceptability for system specs. A lot of people get by on less than you'd think.

Heavy use is subjective.  It's not good, but it really depends on how intense the edit was.  Sure, it will probably take a while to render, but that may or may not be ok.  It depends on how often this person needs to render and how intense the editing is.  If it's a simple video once a day, then sure, no big deal.
