I tried the Aeon flow closed and quite liked them. They are cheaper at $800 too. But I have not heard these.

Want to get around to hearing those as well. Others I know who've tried both said they sounded like a slightly worse Ether, and that the Ethers aren't worth the $1800 when those are only $800. But I can't speak from experience because I have not heard the Aeons, only the Ethers.

Yeah, they sounded pretty good. Very comfortable. I just listened at a meet though, so I didn't listen for long. But sounded pretty good. I don't know if they would be worth $800, but I would consider buying them if I needed a closed back alternative to my HD650s.

Not going to lie, I've been hoping Sennheiser would make a closed back 650, like how they made a closed back HD800S.

Holy crap, your writing style’s progressing. Keep developing your craft.  I felt your analogy of Mercedes & Rolls Royce was on the nose (that was good; it captured the mindset of audiophile nutbars).

I have this belief that planar magnetics have a DIFFERENT sound effect than well-buit cone (dynamic?) drivers. Suprisingly, planar magnetics are tough to find here in Toronto (at least to try out).

Not sure why, but I've heard Canada has a poor selection of headphones.
