Well you had a bsod and just wiped the drive.  That's not how troubleshooting works lol.  We need more than it just bsod'ed, what caused it to happen, did the pc get shaken around before? EDIT: also you wiped the os off so there's that.  You have to reinstall windows.

🙂

Well, you formatted the drive, which deleted everything on it, including the OS. You'll have to reinstall it from an external CD or USB through the BIOS.

If it bluescreens you would not be able to run cmd, the entire OS just crashed so there would be nothing for cmd to run on.

If you are getting brownouts keep the battery in, it will prevent the computer from crashing due to power loss. If you get a bluescreen just restart the computer and try turn it on again, generally everything will be fine.

But how ?

Well, first you need bootable DVD or USB. Do you have one already or have access to another PC to create one?

You will need to find a recovery disk or download a copy of Windows 8 on a different computer, you can then use this to repair the current install if the drive was not completely wiped or use it to reinstall Windows.

For reference this is a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death):

This is the recovery menu (aka Windows kinda still works)

Sadly thats not enough for Win10, not with all latest patches. Win8.1 will be too big also. You'd need to get Win7 or Linux. Or buy bigger stick.

You will mot be able to recover the install, using a surface scanning tool like Recuva you may be able to extract file data. A reinstall will be needed but yes, the laptop can be revived.

Not without reinstalling Windows. Everything that was previously on the laptop is now gone.

You can install Linux. Or get bigger USB and go for Win10. You can't change from Linux to Windows without external booting device.

Its probably either upreared from Vista or installed to 8 at some point. However that makes things bit difficult. You may have lost your license key as Vista case at the time where digital licenses weren't a thing.

Do Windows 10. You can download the installer from Microsoft's website.

You have to buy at least 8gb usb flashdrive, download Windows 10 over website @bhebonn ilustre posted.

Download that file, put USB FlashDrive in PC where the file is downloaded, then start that file, mark ''Select the Create installation media (USB flash drive)''.

When it finishes, safely remove USB from that PC and put it in your laptop. When you press power on button, open BIOS-Boot Options and place USB Drive on first place, press function key where it says ''Save changes and exit''. Do that and installation will start in next few seconds. Then just follow the steps and when you install Windows, let us know to see if all drivers are installed.

You cannot make mistake, just follow the instructions. That is basic stuff, not programming or whatever :D
Cuz my english is not so good, if you don't understand me, just google ''how to install Windows 10 from USB''
