AOC Agon 35"

Psittac

http://www.microcenter.com/product/476971/Agon_AG352UCG_35_VA_Curved_Gaming_LED_Monitor

Can I get thought's on this monitor?

I'm thinking about building a new machine, r7 2700 w/ 1080ti

My main concerns are ultra widescreen gsync 1440p and 100+hz, this one is cheaper than some of the others but has all of the things I think I'm concerned with.  Curved would be nice but not worth $250

edit: oh and vesa is a must, I will replace a 1080p 21:9 and 1440p 27" with this one monitor and put stands back on the old ones for other machines

edit again: curved and HDR would be worth $250 increase

I cant speak on that specific model, but ive had the 31.5" curved Agon for a while now and i love it so I'd say go for it as long as it satisfies your needs

Is there such a thing as an ultrawide 1440p 100+hz gsync curved hdr monitor?

I think this monitor hit's all of the important points for me and if I go ahead with my new build it's probably what I'll get, I would just like to know what my options are.  Every time I make a purchase at my max budget I find myself regretting it, though that's more of a personal problem if not ingrained in the hobby.

Don't get caught up on HDR. It's still too young to really be of much benefit; some games do it properly, a lot don't.

This is one of the best ultrawide monitors out right now for the price IMO. It's the one I'd be going for.

All it's missing is HDR, which isn't something I'd even worry about for another 3 or 4 years.

we always want what we dont have.I was originally looking at sub $200 monitors then impulse splurged on this monitor lol and immediately was looking at higher end monitors than the one i had just bought so i had to sit back and chill out. Just like how i got a good deal on my gtx1080 but immediately wanted a Ti even though they are hard to come by and the 1080 is way more than plenty for what i do.

Best of luck with your search, just remember to google till your hands fall off and make sure you'll be happy. I think that monitor will serve you very well.

I didn't even realize that monitor was curved until now, meh I've had a little bit to drink and can't do the efforts.  But I think you're right, this has everything other than HDR and maybe a higher refresh rate.  If I go through with my build I'll almost certainly get this one.

Yeah, I'm on my second computer in 2-3 years looking at a 3rd.  Somehow I just can't be happy with what I have.

Right now I'm frustrated with work and given that all I do is work and sit on my computer I'm kind of figuring....... who needs a savings account when you can have a new command center.  The computer I have now is by any measurable amount more than I need.  I don't even game that much, maybe an hour or two a day.  On top of that I'm trying to do something other than sit at the computer, maybe put my money into my house instead of the collection of computers.  But meh, I don't have a girlfriend and almost no social life, I'm just tired of waiting for that to change and saving up for what I might do with my money if not this.

edit: I have the following computers and none of them have made me happy

AMD Vishera 6core; r9 380 nittro

Most people hardly notice the increase from 100 to 144 ;) A very, very higher percentage notice the difference between 60 and 75 or 100 though.

Let's be real though, your GPU wouldn't even be able to push those extra frames in most titles unless you're fine lowering the settings.

I have a 144 right now and honestly I don't notice anything above my 60hz display.  Though I'm not a hardcore gamer.  Though if I got my new build it would easily push those pixels at or above 100hz.

I just can't get into twitch gaming, I prefer games that are slower paced and not needing high refresh.  Guess that comes with getting older.  I just can't take the stress of intense gaming.  Overwatch is about as twitch as I can get these days but haven't played that in months.

Damn right "not carried", went and got the only one in stock today

damnright.PNG.15d26c6cf9c3df575605de27bedd4250.PNG

I decided that instead of building a new machine I would get a monitor because I have been extremely frustrated with my display setup.  I had a 27" 1440p 16:9 144hz tn and a 34" 21:9 1080p 60hz ips side by side.  I tried the setup both ways with each taking turns as the primary display and simply was not happy.  The majority of the time I had one monitor off.  Also 1080p vs 1440p was frustrating and none of it had the real estate I wanted.  So many variables to consider, but after a couple hours I know I made the right choice.

Original setup

New Monitor

Wallpaper redone.  F.lux changed over this time period and I put a filter on the wallpaper, so don't let that skew the comparison. (room lighting changed too)

Just wondering, if one does get an hdr monitor and a game does not yet support it or support it well, is that a feature that can be disabled I imagine?

Yes it can be disabled, however HDR is seriously broken in windows right now.  A couple creators have made content about how glitchy it is on the PC platform.  It works well on consoles though.
