Me again with more laptop questions.

What is everyone's thoughts on the new 8th gen MSI GS65. Seriously considering buying this, is there anything i need to watch out for? Or any other suggestions?

Another consideration could be the Aero 15X 8th Gen.

Thanks again

Max

(P.S.) Hope you like the Comic Sans :)

FTFY

Back on track I'd personally go for the Aero 15X.

they are both solid laptops, but the aero 15x has a better battery life and a numbpad and neither laptops really have solid cooling for full cpu and gpu load (idk the difference but linus video shown thermal throttling on the GS65)

honestly a thin and light gaming laptop isn't very ideal thermal wise; you might have to get one from a seller like this who'll give you warrant and apply the LQ metal (i wouldn't risk my laptop with such stuff knowing i'd lose warranty on such an expensive laptop)https://www.gentechpc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AERO-15X-V8-BK4-Build

Thank you! If i'm going to be completely honest, i'm not to bothered by bad thermals unless they thermal throttle or effect the performance. Thank you for the reply.

they do thermal throttle, especially the cpu with all 6 cores on maximum load

if i were you, i'd get it from that site and they have a spring sale going on so they'll do it for free; i'd get the one at the bottom as it is the most optimal and the gpu doesn't have as much thermal issues so the diamond is actually better since its less likely to damage the points around the gpu (i could explain it a bit further but this is something i'd highly recommend getting, especially considering how thin they are)

Why not just get Conductonaut for both since is free and they have warranty on it?

I had gs60 pro 3 years ago.

My first ever laptop.

It's cool, but thermals not so cool and the fan noise not so cool.

I do think they improve a lot with this model over these 3 years.

However, if I were you, I will 100% go to a local shop and see the fan noise and thermals.

I mean the only difference between laptops now is the how well they distribute the heat and how fast fan speed is needed.

1. the gpu doesn't need it nearly as bad

2. if it slips out it could damage the gpu; even with coating, i'm told that it isn't a great idea to do that, liquid metal is still liquid and as such it won't harden and it is especially true for laptops since you move em around that it could move the liquid metal out of place

with those risks said, if OP were to be okay with dealing with going through warranty and keeping a very recurring backup in the event of said malfunction, it may be viable but not recommend by most, especially since the GPU is more prone to damage and isn't as prone to thermal throttling, IC diamond is more than enough and isn't conductive in the same manner as liquid metal

these new laptops have the 6 core H series laptops with better clock speeds and more threads and cores while keeping the same 10xx mobile gpu's that perform so well for the size

First, what's your usage and what are your requirements?

IMO the GS65 is just 'OK', chassis has too much flex, unknown cooling (runs hot according to early buyers) and the hard accessibility. All thin gaming laptops will run hot and throttle under heavy load.
