So, I finally managed to update my system from 775 to 1366.

the CPU I have is the X5650, cooled by a Coolermaster seideon 120m.

Now i think i am facing a GPU bottleneck. ( Currently Gtx 680)

I thought of a 780 ti, but those are selling used down here in Germany for around 200 €,

R9 290x Cards, on the other hand, are selling for around 150 € with a good cooler.

What Gpu should i get? (price to performance in mind)

What would be the best Card this Cpu could handle?

Thanks for your answers

GTX 670/680/770 4g, GTX 1050 Ti 4g, RX 560 4g, R9 280/285/380 3g/4g, GTX 780 3g.

There are games where the GTX 680 4g version is over twice as fast as the 2g version because of the extra VRAM.

The 670/680 4g, 1050 Ti 4g and R9 380 4g all perform within 10% of each other. R9 280 is a bit faster than that, similar to the 780 Ti AFAIK, and R9 290 is a bit faster still.

The CPU will start being a limiting factor with the 780 Ti and R9 290.

I have the 2 gb 680, do you think the r9 290x 4gb for 145 € (180 Dollar) would be a good choice?

i have the ad for the card linked below if you would like to take a look on it.

R9 290x out of those, 680 is trash in many newer titles.

2gb 680, sure.  4gb 680 is ~20% faster than a 1050 Ti.

It's not any better.

Play DOOM 2016 or Assassins Creed Unity or newer, 4gb VS 2gb makes a huge difference.  The tests he was running are not representative of actual gaming load in many of those games.

Ive used both 2gb and 4gb 670/680's recently, AC:U has huge FPS problems in town with the 2gb cards, DOOM crashes down to 15-20 FPS in some maps on a 2gb card no matter what your settings, Unigine Superposition has problems with high settings on a 2gb card...  These issues are not present on a 4gb card with the same GPU.

In these scenarios the 4gb card is up to 3x faster.

I would rather look at evidence, it sucks.

I have an R9 290 with my (oc'd) X5675. It is not bottlenecked, and I am GPU bound quite often. I am planning on upgrading to a newer GPU once prices come back to earth.

What is your budget, and what resolution and refresh rate are you using?

I have a pretty sweet Samsung Monitor, 24 inch 1080p 60 fps would be the sweet Spot, budget would be 250 € max for the gpu

Go buy yourself a 2gb card and test then.

Better yet, try to play the games rather than just reporting an average FPS number from a benchmark.

I use a 2gb 680. Sure, some games have to be set to low textures but there's nothing that's crashing...

Remember that there's a huge market of people using 2gb cards. Devs have motivation to provide support for them

It really isn't. If anything the 1050ti outperforms it by a very small amount and it will also use literally a fraction of the power

It really is.  GTX 670 4gb is 10%-15% faster, someone else wanted to argue this as well and I provided benchmarks because I had both on hand.  GTX 680 is faster still.  Power consumption isn't really an issue as you only need a 500w PSU for the 680.

Even with overclocking both cards the 670 was still 10% faster.
