That will own any current game up to 1440p ultra, slightly lower setting's 1440p 100+hz

For productivity an amd will be better and the revamped ryzen chips are pre-order *today with refined motherboards

Either way you are more than good to go for your needs

edit: oh and if you're going with intel I heard about a new optane that can boost non-OS drives, not sure how much it'll help but that's always an option as they're bundled with certain intel chips.

Audio go Brrrrrr

i plan on using it for gaming, video editing and graphic design

the games I plan to play are fortnite and stationeer

Should buy a Ryzen 8 core, the motherboard will need a BIOS update, either through your retailer or through the free bios update kit.

For some reason your X470 AM4 motherboard pricing is double X370 motherboards

If you're only gaming at 1080p 60hz a 1050ti will be fine, save the rest of your money for a next generation GPU in a few months

Do you really already own the case? You should buy a case that actually has airflow, and the RL06 pro is best in class in that department.

Why? 8700k will definitely win in gaming and I'd say for the most part it wins in editing when using the Adobe suite, with the only places multi core performance usually makes a difference in being exporting and some rendering portions.

Put in a better mobo since you'll want a better vrm if you're gonna OC, and also got a better psu (the strider gold is older and not as good as newer ones). The ram you chose isn't actually available so I had to pick a more expensive kit, so I offset that with a cheaper gpu.

Why a Ryzen build

Because it's a better value chip? and the soldered IHS is a nice bonus as well as the upgrade path potentially. And for video editing and all of that the extra cores may be useful. Also the difference in gaming is relative as ryzen will already be at 100fps or more in the average AAA game.

If anything you could get an even less expensive R5 1600/R5 2600 + ASrock Pro4 and be perfectly fine as well, then you still have 6 cores/12 threads.

and for some reason on the latest version of windows 10 anandtech got some strange results, probably just a simple mistake somewhere.
"Update: A number of comments have noted that some of our gaming numbers are different to other publications. To clarify, we used the latest ASUS 0508 BIOS (on X470), full Windows RS3 + updates, Spectre/Meltdown patches, and updated gaming titles. We are reviewing the data. "

As for the case, you want something with a mesh front intake, as it'll have the best cooling potential. The RL06 pro is one of the best stock configs you can get

I just showed though that for video editing most of the time the 8700k is better.

That's just after effects, which most people aren't using when they're doing basic video editing, besides there's also Movie studio platinum/Vegas, and resolve.

in addition as a small bonus because of the extra cores you can render a video on Ryzen and game at the same time splitting it 4c/8t and 4c/8t, doesn't skip a beat.

And techspot actually has it winning on their benchmark which is a bit strange. Although the 8700K wins in the single threaded warp stabilizer test should you ever need that.

I mentioned in my post that the one place multi core performance tends to win ahead is export. I also linked a Tom's Hardware post that has tests from many parts of the Adobe suite, all of which show the 8700k pulling ahead.

Sure, there is other software out there, but I'd say the majority of users utilize stuff from the Adobe suite.
