Cheep surprise.

I'm looking to not only build my first pc for a friend but I want to do it kinda cheaply. Hes the kind of person that woukd pay me back and I dont want him to. Currently he uses a laptop running 2 monitor's getting 20fps and I want your guys help as well as my own to surprise him with a desktop. My budget is 1500 or less or max to 2k but it doesnt need to be top of the line. If anyone could send links or advice for what to prioritize over others that would be superb.

If this is a 'play pubG and edit videos' build then you can get an 8700K with 16 GB of Ram and a GTX 1080 and be done with it.  That will all fit in your budget.

Or for the new $1500 number replace teh 8700K with a ryzen 2600 and a 1070.

Its a memory intensive multiple game play with a just need for something better than a laptop. So yea that would be great

No worries.  There is no monitor, software or peripherals in there so keep that in mind.

Personal opinion about the other build offered is poster was overspending on a motherboard and ram. Case is another personal choice of what the owner thinks looks good. So lots of flexibility in the build.

Peripherals - Mouse, Keyboard headphones etc.

Software - Your OS.  Probably Windows 10.

Monitor will depend on what games you play.  A good 1080 144hz 27 inch monitor is 300-400.

UnleashedPride has a good Intel Build there if you prefer that to AMD.

Yeah no problem. That’s what the forums are here for. I’d recommend checking out any of Linus’s build guides (there hasn’t been much that has changed from the older videos to now so really any of them work.) @TheGlenlivet has a good build compared to what I listed. If your friend is just going to be gaming, no video editing, streaming, etc., either build will produce comparative results. I could edit the other build for cheaper motherboard and ram, as with the prices on a budget, aren’t preferable in my opinion.
