Is cryptocurrency still viable?

Just saw a thread which talks about how AMD Navi aims to be a $250 USD GTX 1080 competitor. And that got me thinking, is cryptocurrency still a viable source of income? Let us say we aren't using an ASIC and are using normal GPU's built for gaming and not for Cryptomining. (PNY has a GTX 1060 based ASIC)

 

Taking the price of power and other expenses be the same as your local prices,

 

Is it still viable to mine with any cards from GTX 1060 3GB to Titan V and from RX 460/560 to Vega64?

 

Can the cards at par with GTX 1050ti be viable?

How will this mining craze stop?

Do miners still mine a few coins and sell all hardware for an arm and a leg?

Any two cents are appreciated :D

 

Off Topic:

I'm in India, and Cryptocurrency is banned here. So I won't mine crypto anyways. I didn't care much for it either till the GTX 980 shortage fiasco.

Depends on power cost and regulations. Lots of countries are now considering putting taxes on the income generated from crypto mining. If you're not mining yet, there is no point in starting anymore imo.

In a matter of fact no one knows at this point and though it seems that way right now, the future is clouded.
