I would say the best thing you could do is get a better motherboard(preferably a Z97 board) and an i7-4770K or 4790K.

Not really gaming but for the System overall, a SSD is really woth it!

If you want to go to a new CPU you need new RAM (DDR4) which is really expensive atm. also you need a new mainboard.

You could search for an used pre DDR4 era with overclocing functionality (intel CPU with an K at the and and Z mainboard)

While i am sure you will see some small gains upgrading your motherboard, cpu, and ram.  You will probably be disappointed in the gains you do get for the $ it will cost while keeping the gtx 1060.  I would start saving now for a new build with a new graphics card included.

@crunchy dragon could you link me a z97 board that would be best for the price?

the thing you need to look for on a mainboard that it have enough RAM Slots, USB Ports, (all other things you want to plug in). Expect you want to set a new worldrecord it woun´t really matter xD

yeah i think a SSD and searching for good ingame settings would be the best at the current market

i would make a new build but im not sure if its best for me at the moment, however my pc runs super well already. just looking to add a little extra speed. but the ssd and new board with a i7 is what im leaning towards right now. just want to know what to get exactly for the best price.

If you get an SSD get at least 500GB since we're in the days on 100GB+ games. It's a nice upgrade if you don't have one, especially for the faster loading times in games. What kind of games do you play where you'd be thinking of upgrading an i5-4430 though? I could understand it if you had say a 1070 and were targeting 144 fps at 1080p in AAA games, but the 1060 is a 1080p60 level gpu in AAA games.

That's complete lunacy. Just get an SSD and spend the rest of your money on something more useful like hookers and cocaine.

it does run all games i throw at it, GTA5, FARCRY, and destiny 2. all 1080p 60+ frames. but it does seem like it could be better. also i edit videos with sony vegas and aftereffects. and loading times are quite slower then others.

SSD for sure.  An ssd will see faster load times on almost all software and boot times into windows. It won't really improve in program speed as that usually relies on CPU and RAM.  I don't think there is any point to upgrading your CPU or mother board.  you won't see enough improvement in performance to warrant the expense/effort and that money is better put aside for a Ryzen/8000 build later (especially if you are getting into video).

Get a locked i7 4770 and call it a day. A 1060 is nice and new but not exactly performance. Your 4 core 4 thread CPU is minimum spec for many AAA games nowadays. 4c/8t would be better.
