Solid GPU for 1080p gaming

Hey guys. Trying to get a rig together for my friend and he doesn’t want to go overboard on his first build. 

 

He’s happy playing at 1080p but would like to hit decent frame rates (80-120ish) and have graphics on high. 

 

What sort of gpu would be a good starting point for a first build.

1060 6gb would be the idea spot I would think.

Depends on the games he plays but a 480/580/1060(6gb)

 

Whichever you can get the best deal on.

Think the 1060 seems like a good idea. 

As long as it pushes the graphics so he can appreciate the depth of terrain etc on games compared to our One Xs

Depends on the games and cpu really. 

 

Id go 1080 but my cpus can only keep up with certain games so a weaker card would be preferred.

is the real sweet spot for quality 1080p gaming in my opinion.

1050TI works if he wants to play esports games like CS:GO, but for something more demanding the GTX 1060 6GB or(if it can be found at a similar price to the 1060 6GB) the RX480/580
