Acer 8920G laptop shuts off when plugged in.

Go to solution Solved by KoeppColto024470,

I'm just saying Acer is well known for breaking down and having to be scrapped. I used to own a Acer Aspire and the main board on it died as well as the hard drive so I sent it to a repair place to get it fixed guess what THEY SENT IT BACK AND TOLD ME TO SHIP IT TO ACER TO FIX EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY ON IT WAS EXPIRED. So I had to pay for shipping to Texas wait 2/1/2 weeks without a laptop to do homework and pay Acer to fix it and it costed me more then the price of a new laptop all in.

My Acer 8920G shuts off suddenly when plugged in,but works fine on battery use.The laptop doesnt shutdown in safemode when plugged in.

This issue only happens in Normal mode.Tried all OS including ubuntu doesnt help. Please do help.

Likely a problem with the power regulation board in the laptop. This is a separate replaceable board on some, but knowing Acer, it's probably part of the mainboard meaning this laptop is ripe for the scrapper.

Ohh.Did bootlogging on windows and the driver ACPI started failing at boot which is most probably causing it but in safemode those drivers are not loading which solves the issue,But is there any fix or work around for this other than scrapping.

That laptop is 2008. It greatly outlive the normal life span of most laptops.

Time to let go.

Acer isn’t bad if the laptop survive this far.

Buy a new laptop if you absolutely need windows get a Lenovo or a Dell Laptop. If you don't need Windows and you can afford it get a macbook. Otherwise if you don't need a windows laptop and can't afford a macbook buy a linux machine they boot faster cause they don't have all the background crap that Windows has.
