Man o' War is garbage. Get the Status Audio CB-1 and Vmoda Boompro.

Just asking, not trying to hate on your opinion, but how is it garbage? I own one and I have had no problems with it.

The sound awful for what they cost. Have you heard other non-gaming headphones of around the same price?

They sound pretty good, imo. I know that you can get the Audio Technica ATH ANC9 for around the same price, but I of course don't know what they sound like.

Pretty good compared to what?

Actually way better compared to the previous headset I owned which was the Platronics RiG 500, which I bought for $100 AUD

That's a small sample size to compare too.

Well, that was the headset I owned before I got the Man 'O' War, it would be difficult to compare other headsets that are at the same price point as the Man 'O' War because I haven't used any other headset from that price point. If I had used another headset from the same price point, it would be easier to compare.

Well as someone who has I can tell you that Razer makes terrible headphones. Real headphones of the same price and often significantly less sound way better than any gaming headset made by Razer, Corsair, Logitech, HyperX, etc...

That's quiet the majority of brands that make Gaming headphones. What do you mean by "Real headphones?" Also what headphones do you use? I'm not trying to hijack the thread or anything, I am just asking.

Real headphones, as in not gaming headsets. I've tried dozens of headphones from anywhere from $5 to $3,000+, I have a good understanding of the range of what's out there. Check my profile to see the audio gear I currently own.

Woah, that is insane. Thanks for telling me, I appreciate it :)

From what I think I guess people have different experiences when it comes to headphones/headsets - break in a month for one person, breaks in a year for the other

Edit: Found his review for the mass drop collection.

Recently just purchased Schiits Lyr 3 and Audeze LCD-X's. From what I've read from most, these will give me what I'm looking for. Lyr 3 will be overkill likely, but w/e.

Edit: Not sure I'll pick up any of these as I found with my K712's made in Australia to be high in comfort other than they could use a little more clamping force. However they're almost 4 years old and have about 3.5k hours on them if I had to guess :-)

Has anyone tried True-Fi from Sonarworks? I just tried it on my laptop and bought it, found it made the K712s sound real nice. Hopefully amp'd they'll sound even better!

Just picked up the Lyr 3 from Fedex...

Haven't played any games yet. However, this is something special. I also bought the Soundworks True-Fi. This is sounding like a new headphone.

The most I notice is the floor noise is extremely low compared to say the amp in my Marantz SR7008 receiver and Sound Blaster ZxR.

Now this could be from the Tube/SS combo or just the power it has over my ZxR and Marantz. But the bass is deeper and louder. This could also be from Soundworks boosting the low end. It takes the peak around 7k down and brings the dip around 5k up to my ears, sounds extremely flat however, still has the AKG signature from the drivers of course. Sound stage seems a tad more focused however imaging is more precise so far. Possibly the Multibit dac has a part too.

About to fire up a game and see how the amp and soundworks sounds.

I will try to A/B the Lyr to the Sound Blaster ZxR, hook up the Lyr to my Laptop and try to level match them as best as possible.
