First build, 1030 + Pentium G4560

Hey guys. I have always wanted to build a pc, and now I have enough money to do so. I know I should wait a couple months for prices to go down, but hey, I can upgrade later if I want to, and I just can't wait. Here is my pcpartpicker list.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hJt3tg

Couple things I wanna say first though.

1. I have already bought the same graphics card on ebay for 70 bucks. The owner put only 50 hours into it, and he did light strategy games. I feel like I got a decent deal, but you're more than welcome to say otherwise.

2. I probably won't be buying new ram. I found some good deals on ebay on used ram. 8gb sticks go for around 55 to 65. I know buying new parts is probably better, but if it's lightly used and in good condition at a good price, I won't mind.

3. I know I could've saved some money with mail in rebate items, but I just don't want to go through the hassle of doing that. If I could wait a month or two for rebates, I wouldn't be building a pc now anyway.

4. Has anyone used that case before? Is it good? I don't really like flashy rgb cases, and I didn't get a case with a window, because I doubt I would have good cable management.

5. To end off, I wanna ask you guys for a good pc building tutorial for beginners. I want to follow along a video as I build the pc, but there are so many out there, and suggestions wouldn't hurt.

6. I will be buying a windows 10 key off of Kinguin. Anybody have experience? Good, bad?

What do you guys think? What can I improve? A couple months from now, I might sell the Gt 1030 and buy an rx 460.

1. When you go below a certain price point, the value proposition drops like mad, and that's what you're build is in. You have to get older used stuff for it to still be worth it.

2. Kaby Lake and Skylake are bad platforms to get into. They offer less performance for your money compared to older stuff, and they still dont give you a good upgrade path.

3. There are cheap 120gb SSDs at about the same amount of money for a 500GB HDD. Get the SSD instead, since an HDD can join in later.

4. Hours on a graphics card doesnt mean much. Cards fail of age starting from about 2000 hours of use. That's 2 years of use if the card is used 3 hours per day, every day. The 750ti is a far better choice, or just get a 2200g Ryzen APU instead since they perform similarly and cost less or gives a better upgrade path.

5. Power supply is shit. I'm not sure why EVGA sells so many 80+/80+ Bronze units but only gets one right (the B2), but that's the fact.

I have a pc list that I would want to build in the near future. It is like the build list that I quoted above but it cuts a couple more corners to make the budget 70$ lower. This is the ultimate budget pc in my opinion.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£77.99)

*It's integrated GPU is on-par with a GT 1030, which can handle many games at 1080p with good settings.

Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£62.15)

*This motherboard has been known for good compatibility with the new Raven Ridge AMD APU's.

RAM: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£95.52)

*It's important to have dual-channel ram for APU's as the GPU's don't have any dedicated VRAM so they take from the system RAM.

Storage: Kingston A400 120GB 2.5" SSD (£29.98)

*This can be used for the OS so that boot times can be fast, so that's why the capacity is small.

Storage: WD - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD (£35.99)

*This will be mainly used for large storage for your games etc.

Case: Rosewill - FBM-X1 Micro ATX Mini Tower Case

*It is a good budget case that seems to have good reviews.

EVGA - 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

*Good quality power supply and has enough power left over for more upgradability paths.

Total: £365.88

My Current PC (The Starter):

CPU - Ryzen 3 2200G | GPU - Radeon Vega 8 | Motherboard - Asrock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX | RAM - G.Skill Ripjaw V Series 2x8GB DDR4-2400 | Case - Cougar MX330 | Storage - Kingston A400 120GB SSD and WD Blue 1TB HDD | PSU - EVGA 500W PSU | Cooling - AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler |

My MacBook (The Forum-Master):

CPU - Intel Core i5 (dual-core) | GPU - Intel HD 3000 Graphics | RAM - 2x2GB DDR3-1666 | Storage - 320GB SATA Disk

Old Laptop (The Roblox Beast):

CPU - AMD A8-4555M | GPU - Radeon HD 7600G | RAM - 8GB | Storage - 1TB HDD

Ur choice of ram could hv been better...

Apus run better with faster dual channel ram...

The case that u HV suggested is pretty crappy....I HV cut myself many times with it...

EVGA makes both good quality ND bad quality PSUs....80+ rating doesn't matter much....

Also,u HV made ur PCPP list in wrong currency....OP is from USA..
