GL series (Hero, Scar) has mediocre cooling, avoid. Zephyrus M is better but it's more expensive and has poor battery life. Repaste is highly recommended as well as undervolting.

I always re-paste anyways. Increases life span of the laptop. Wish all manufactures put good thermal paste on. **cough** intel...

Zephyrus M IMHO

 

It’s expensive but the GL-VS line has never been known for even acceptable cooling (even if ASUS marketing says “Stay cool under fire”) and it’s generally why I tell people to steer away from them.

I've heard that ASUS used thermal paste instead of thermal pads to distribute the heat away from stuff like VRMs. 

 

Not exactly a complete deal breaker depending on your take but still feels like corner cutting.

I think the laptop's thermal performance will significantly improve with an LM re-paste and thermal pads. Even good-ol' Kyronaut should help too for those not brave enough to apply LM
