Ram pricing

Hey, I just wanted to know your opinion on ram pricing right now, as well as the fact if any of you know if it will be going down in price, because its really expensive compared to a few years ago.

No, I haven't watched it yet, does it say anything related to ram pricing? I got the idea about this post from the video title.

It's ridiculously expensive right now, over 50% more than it should be. There was an incident at a NAND factory late last year that caused the DRAM shortage, as far as I know. It won't last forever, but it'll be a pain in the ass for another year or so.

The price is higher than usual but price hikes and drops are normal and they're bound to fall back down eventually.

Basically he says that if you need more ram, just bite the bullet and go buy some. But if you can wait, then do but it will be many months before prices come down.

Really? As of right now, the cheapest i've seen 16gb of ram go for is about $160 (USD)

I heard about that, but aren't smartphones also a cause of Ram being at a higher price as well?

Yes but the ram in smartphones is slightly different.

I don't think they're the cause, but they're certainly not helping the problem.

Yes that may seem like a good deal, but like 2-3 years ago ram was about $6.25/Gigabyte depending on what ram you got.

Yeah, especially when each year it seems companies like Samsung are adding 1-2 GB of ram to their flagship phones.

As soon as the EU and China move on investigating the RAM cartel for price fixing (yet again), prices will come down quite quickly.

If only they would also do that with GPU's because i've seen on NVIDIA's website they raised the price for a 1060 6gb to $300 from $260

People are still blindly believing that it takes AMD and Nvidia over two years to realize that there is a demand for their GPUs. The good news though is that cards are actually coming back into stock and $300 for a 1060 6Gb is comparatively decent, over the prices that Newegg and others are charging. It is though still too much of course and they are totally ignoring that their largest market (aside from miners), is the $200 - $250 segment with mid range cards like the 1060 6Gb. I hope they get investigated too and, from what I recently heard, they will be in the near future.

Hopefully they do, because my cousin bought a gtx 1060, and he paid $350, but the week before it was going for $289 and then I checked the following week(After the purchase) the price of it is $399, so i'm not exactly sure how it works, but it seems like they're just trying to get money, and I feel like with the new GPU's launching in Q3 of this year, they will do that on a much higher scale.
