Hello!

I just thought about buying hotspot shield for some improved privacy - german lawyers are pretty trigger happy when it comes to cease and desist letters right now. I've been lucky up till now but I'd like to make sure. Hotspot Shield seems to be a nice way of doing things since it's endorsed by linus. I always like to try stuff for myself, though. So I tried the free version but there's a problem with the firefox addon. After I installed it my addressbar just went missing until I uninstalled it again. I won't buy anything until I'm convinced that it runs as it's supposed to, so does any of you guys have an idea, how to fix it? Also, I got another question: Does it tunnel other software like torrent clients, game clients (like steam or Uplay) and other software as well?

Also I have a relatively fast connection of about 3MB down, 1MB up. Will I still get that speed with hotspot shield?

Okay, I filled in a support form but I doubt that they will respond - I'm not a paying customer, yet, so I don't think they'll bother.

Just be aware that Hotspot shield doesn't protect your privacy at all, They freely give out IP addresses if there asked for. All it does it means you'll get flagged up more easily.

I see, thanks for the info. Anyway, our government actually tries to go against the law firms who write those cease and desist letters, since they're considered very hurtful for society. People even get tricked into visiting illegal sites, which were only set up for the purpose of sueing people for the money. So theiy're basically abusing copyright law for easy money and unfortunately it's legit enough so that you'd have to least take some legal counseling. Well, as I said, I haven't received such a letter, yet and I already have numerous safety measures in place in form of firefox addons and some other software like a non automated firewall. I guess I'm doing something right, then.
