upgrading ram, need some help

You should try to find and buy the same RAM as you currently have.

If you cant or it is not being sold anymore , it is best to try to find a used one or buy some other RAM from the same manufacturer and that has same clock speed and latency.

If your budget can afford a reasonable upgrade, sure why not.

If you are constantly hitting the 8GB mark then it will be an improvement. "Faster" wouldn't say so, RAM capacity doesnt improve fps as far as i know.

The ASUS F2A55-M LK is an AMD APU motherboard...but you have an Intel CPU.

 

That said, as people have already mentioned, give your system is from 2011, it will use DDR3 RAM.

DDR3 RAM slots are physically different from DDR4, so they are NOT interchangeable.

 

You will see some performance increase with more RAM, or with higher frequency RAM.

Depending on the tasks you do, and the applications (e.g. games, etc) you run, the benefit may be nothing at all, or quite noticeable.

For an example, in gaming, higher frequency RAM could yield you anywhere from 1 ~ 5 FPS difference, typically.

 

As @Ross Scarlet mentioned, you only really run into a problem when you DON'T have enough RAM, and it starts "borrowing" slower HDD / SSD space as RAM.

 

I upgraded from 16GB of DDR4 to 32GB.

Gaming wise, no increase in performance.

DO NOT BUY DDR4 RAM WITH YOUR CURRENT HARDWARE. They will not work together. If you look at this video you will see that DDR3 isn't much worse than DDR4 and only upgrade if you need more RAM. If you watch this video you will see if 8 GB of RAM is enough.
