Hi Guys

I just bought the EKWB X360 kit and im thinking about adding a GPU to the loop.

Is it overkill to add another 420 rad as well?

i was thinking Res>Pump>CPU>420rad>GPU>360rad>res

also does the DDC 3.2 PWM produce enough head for 2 rads? if not i was thinking of adding the Thermaltake D5 res/pump combo to the loop so it would look like:

Res>DDC>CPU>420rad>Res>D5>GPU>360rad>res

another question i have is if running 2 rads in parallel helps with cooling since flow rate is reduced through the rads, but that would mean water traveling through both CPU and GPU before getting cooled.

Thoughts?

First what is your case? Second i need to know ur specs. Every custom loop is overkill. It depends on what ur purpose is. If you want a silent loop a 360 red is plenty for most configs. Tho i suggest get a 240 rad for every component so you have oc Headroom. Get another 240 and be happy ;)

Welcome to the Forums.

Yes, adding another 420 mm rad will likely be overkill unless you have a quad GPU setup or something on that scale. However it will help in allowing your loop to be more quiet while maintaining closer to ambient temperature, so up to you really.

Radiators are one of the least restrictive things inside a watercooling loop (especially the EKWB thick ones) and so the DDC should not have a problem. A single D5 will be manage that as well at a much quieter noise level.

Running rads in parallel is pretty pointless due to their low restriction (as opposed to running GPU blocks in parallel). Furthermore, loop order does not matter on water temperatures, so do the loop which is convenient and aesthetically pleasing for you. If you were going for the theory, its also only desirable to put components with equal restriction in parallel so your 360 and 420 rad will not have an equal split of the flow.

Can never have to much rad :)

The more rad you have, the higher your cooling capacity, and the slower (and thus quieter) u can run your fans.

A single pump can handle prirty much anything you can throw at it in terms of PC water loops....within reason.

My case is a thermaltake view 71. at the moment i have a A8-7850k and a gtx960. i have played with mild OC but i dont run anything that actually stresses my system so im running the watercooling purely for aesthetics.

by the sounds of it extra rad cant hurt and i do want the temps to be as low as possible.

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately i picked the x360 because i was afraid the D5 wouldnt handle extra components, the x360 comes with a DDC. i have headphones on most of the time so a bit of noise hopefully doesnt both me. i think ill just run the loop in series with a rad after each component.

Using a d5 on 3 rads and 8 blocks, no actual issues.

Id add a 420 for sure. 140’s are always better. That way you won’t have to change the loop if you upgrade components later.

Either pump setup will handle it. Also order won’t matter. Just do what looks best or is easier to accomplish.

Your 360 rad is more than enough...
