Use 2 of the 6+2 pin connector. When you use the 6 pin part of the 6+2, it's a 6pin. When you use both 6pin and the 2pin hanging of it, it's an 8pin.

The power supply should've come with everything, unless you bought it secondhand or something similar.

The 6+2 PCI-E cables are the ones you have to use.

yeah but at the other end of the cable it doesnt plug into the psu itself

Make sure they're oriented correctly on the power supply end.

I see, the other end of the 8-pin PCI-E cable is supposed to go in either of the +12V connectors like shown in the manual of your PSU:

I think the connectors on the picture are only red for better illustration

your power supply is upside-down, so you have to do the same to the cable

fan side down is the right way, and even if it was upsidedown fliping the pcie it still doesnt fit

yes, if you zoom into my image the psu connector has all u shaped on the top row, which makes no sense, can i shave down the edges of my pcie wire to fit or will that mess up my gpu from a power perspective?

use some force. These things are tight.

I would not advise doing that. They should go in if they're the proper cables.

I'm seriously curious if the cables you have with your power supply are actually the right ones. Unfortunately, I cannot verify it based on power supply reviews because no one focuses on the cables enough for me to see the connector being used.

yeah, the PSU end is not the correct pin shape. since being second hand, prolly do not have the correct cabling.

either contact an antec dealer to acquire the correct cables or aftermarket versions (if available).

Are you sure that that cable came with the PSU??

And for a 980ti you should use TWO cables...
