I would personally get a either a Z270 board, or not bother with a K-series CPU at all.

I wouldn't get a generation old CPU, that's for sure.

Try and go for an i5 8400 paired with an Asus board. If you want to save more money, wait a few weeks until the H or B series boards come out.

I'd also get a better cooler and probably a better PSU.

How much is the GPU there?

If it's overpriced just buy an R5 2400G system for like 500 EUR and save the rest for a future GPU

If it's reasonably priced wait until April 19th and buy a ryzen 5 2600 6 core/12 thread CPU

Do not buy kaby lake at the very least

that PSU sounds like a fire hazzard.

If you can get a cheap enough Z370 board, yes.

ry..zen...but just wait a few days for a free performance bump, probably 10% over current gen ryzen chips

AM4 is going to be cheaper and still let you do overclocking, and the soldered IHS is nice, can keep it pretty cool with a 120mm tower cooler.

That's almost not terrible, but ya either get an R5 1600 now or wait for the R5 2600

having 6 cores/12 threads may be more useful vs a bit more fps, say 100fps for ryzen vs 120fps for coffee lake in the i5 8400, and with your tier of GPU the performance is going to be closer between the 2 chips.

Sorry if im being a pain, its just I want to get this right. I also dont really want to have to build the pc myself as I dont really want to have the stress of *if something goes wrong* if you know what I mean so i wouldnt mind spending a little more on a pre-build. I also just found this any thoughts?

Or even to just save money and go for a 1060 3gb?

Would be fine, See if there's a Ryzen 5 equivalent, won't matter for photo editing.

If you want the absolute best 144hz gaming go for coffee lake

Ryzen just gives you more multi-threaded performance being 6 cores 12 threads, and a longer lasting platform.

Building your own PC isn't hard, just that GPU pricing there is still kind of insane. this card is like 100 EUR more than it should be

New H310, H370, and B360 motherboards are available in the US. Shouldn't be that long before they are more generally available.

The first is the better system.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

How is a 7600K and a B250 board better than a 6 core 8600K and Z370 board?

???????

H310, H370, and B360 are Coffee Lake chipsets. Not suitable for an i5-8600K, but certainly worthwhile for an i5-8400 or i5-8600.

Ok so just wanted to see if its worth getting a ryzen 5 1600 with the wraith cooler (at £948) or getting the 5 1600x and a be quiet cool rock (at £985) for a little bit more?

Is that another pre-built? the price difference is basically what the dark rock would cost, so might as well.

I would go with the R5 1600 and stock cooler and then see if you can fit 16GB ram from the off.

Also an option, though it's not like he can "upgrade" to the 1600X later, for that extra maybe 100-200mhz. Cost ends up the same whenever the cooler gets upgraded.
