Internet Cable

What is the best internet cable to connect to my computer? (Sorry I dont know the proper name ), that cable that comes from the wall near the phone and goes to the back of the computer (mainboard) to give it internet connection. I want to know if there are classes and which one provides the most stable connection tho =) Thank you very much.

For most use cases a Cat5e is what you want.

Also the protocol is called "Ethernet" if you look on Amazon for some short cables you will find them by that name.

It's called "Ethernet", and there are many different variants.

 

Cat 5 - 100Mbps max, obsolete

Cat 5e - 1 Gbps max, standard

Cat 6a - "New" 10 Gbps max, more expensive but common

Cat 7 - expensive rare ISO only standard shield cable 

Cat 8 - For datacentres

I thought Cat8 wasn’t designed yet? Or was that Cat9?

• cat6 - 10gbits 55m
• cat6a- 10gbits 100m
• cat7 - 10gbits 100m
• cat8 - 2 GHz (2000 MHz) 25 - 40gbits 30m

Thanks for all replies. I had been researching about cat 5e and here in my country there are brands (some chienses are cheaper) how do I detected good quality cable from a bad one?

If you can see them in person, try flexing it. If it's stiff, don't buy, it's likely CCA which isn't very good. Try getting a copper cable, don't get CCA
