A 750ti would be good.

750ti is only about 25% faster than the HD6870 you already own...i would look for someting with a bit more punch personally...

750ti isnt all that much of a performance jump... It works if you also want to save power, but not that good of a choice IMO

I can tell you I have had FAR less issues with emulation on Nvidia cards, although that seems to do with what the creator of the emulator is using and optimizing for and no negative on AMD's part. I believe that most of the emulators depend on your CPU more than GPU though. In terms of regular gaming it could be worth it for the small boost of up to 25% and a bit more modern of drivers/hardware if it is an upgrade on the cheap. Personally I would normally say save your money and get the big upgrade in hardware so it will last you, but it all depends on your situation and need.

I just got a HP Z220 with a I3-320 and also a HP Pro with a I3-3240. I bought a I7-3770 for one of them. I don't think any of those allow unlocking of any kind, meaning the motherboards. Both post. The I7-3770 and a 750TI would most likely kill it. Yes non-K sku. 3.4 to 3.9 GHz with 8MB Cache is enough. Question is, which MoBo. The pro is non proprietary, but only holds up to 8 GB memory, just a MATX. The z220 has a Proprietary PSU with many connectors instead of a 24 pin. I would use a 1050 or a 750TI. I have a loose 750TI.
