The difference is pretty small for Intel, but it is there. 3000MHz is excellent. Technically anything higher is going to be better, but the reason people say 3200MHz is because the cost to performance ratio is horrible past that. The performance difference between 2400MHz and 2666MHz is much bigger than 3000MHz and 3200MHz, and the price difference is smaller.
It's all about finding a sweet spot. There's no reason to get anything higher if you've already got 3000MHz RAM.
