PATA/SATA/FDD PSU

Greetings!

 

I have a question about PATA/SATA/FDD on my PSU. Is there a difference? Reason im asking that my computer seems to have a hard time reading the HDD, It's constantly at 100% disk usage just for opening files or even programs like chrome and steam.

So when i noticed that the power cable for the HDD was in PATA, i placed it in SATA and everything is now smooth.

 

So what gives? I'm just asking for educational purposes

what drive is this, normally only one power cable will fit.

 

 

A hdd with very high load or is slow normally means its failing and you should probably get a new one and make sure backups are good.

All three ports PATA, SATA and FDD are exactly the same.

 

and the HDD is SATA.

huh picture?

 

There is no pata power, pata used AMP MATE-N-LOK.

 

Floppy used berg connectors.

 

Sata has their own power connection.

thats just showing you the different uses, there all the exact same connector. The / is just a or.

The ports are the same on the PSU, but labeled PATA, SATA and FDD?  Um... Ok....

 

Should be the same ports, wired the same way, with only the connectors being different.

 

Plugging into one port versus another shouldn't make any difference at all.

Hmm... then i guess the port used before is defective then. Well thanks for entertaining my curiosity.

very unlikely its power, you probably have a bad drive, and just didn't touch the bad parts after you moved the connector. Try crystal disk info.
