Gaming desktop restarts seconds after turned on!

SocksiScats88

Hello everybody, I'll start off by saying that I've come across this issue in the past, but I just waited for about a minute for the restarting to stop. When I went to turn of my system this morning it just restarts and restarts over and over again. I've tried making sure the connectors for both of my storage drives are properly in and making sure the processor is in the right place, but it still continues to restart over and over again. I haven't had my desktop for that long, I got it last year in May, this is one of the only problems I've had with this system. If anybody needs more information regarding my problem, my computer or anything else just ask me. I'll also list my desktop specifications if needed. Please help me!

Specifications:

  • Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050Ti
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte H270-HD3
  • Processor: Intel core i3 7100

What power supply do you have? It's not a Corsair is it?

If its the issue I think it is, I've faced it before. Does it just come on for a few seconds without booting and then goes off, and then back on and so forth. Has it just started doing this? You're still under warranty probably for the computer

Spoiler

I have compiled a list of stuff I had tried for this issue, but it might be other things so don't start ripping apart your computer:

- Removed of the Chassis reset switch connecter altogether.

- Removed then later reinstalled the CMOS Battery.

- Exchanged my main CPU, a knowingly functioning Intel® Core™ i7-4790 & compatible (In which is set to Turbo @ 4.00 ghz consistently), for a lower end Intel® Celeron (Of an unknown but most definitely compatible model), leaving out the Dedicated GPU whilst using both CPUs.

- Re-seated the existing RAM in which I was using.

- Attempted to get a beep or light code from the motherboard

- Exchanged the RAM later in for a single stick, proceeding to reseat this occasionally if discovered issue was not resolved.

- Removed the GPU from the top PCI-E x16 slot then positioned it in the bottom PCI-E x16 with the i7 in.

- Transplanted a spare none modular 850w PSU, then later a fully modular 1000w PSU. Both in which I knew functioned with another motherboard.

- Tried the system with no drives at all.

- Tried with nothing other than CPU Power (Making sure that the correct cable/connector was used for this, as I know people often do become confused with the differences between CPU & GPU power connectors).

- Tried with & without various peripherals (Keyboards and mice, all connected to the motherboard's 3.0 USBs).

- Re applied thermal contact paste for both CPUs if issue not resolved.

I replaced the power supply as it was a faulty unit. Went up in smoke.

Had to wait a month to replace it.

Most other problems I've come across have had beeping from the motherboard, mainly RAM comparability issues.

No it isn't. It's from a brand that goes by the name 'Zalman'.

Every time it starts up for about a second or to and then restarts. Nothing comes up on my computer screen when it starts up.

I might try replacing it for an older one I have lying around to see if that's the problem.

first your POWER SUPPLY will NOT make your PC restart and restart after a couple of seconds

second, YOUR PC IS OVER HEATING.

when your pc over heats it will shut down to cause it from Frying out

what is causing this?

No thermal paste

lack of thermal paste or to MUCH thermal paste

make sure your CPU fan or liquid cooler (which ever you're using) is seated properly

google and download HW Monitor and you can check your TEMPS with that app.

Your reasoning for why my desktop is doing this seems logical, but I do have thermal paste still on from when I still bought the computer, and all of my fans are all seated properly.

I clean my computer most days of the week, so it's pretty much spotless.

I have two sticks of 4GB DDR4 RAM, so that's 8GB in total.

okay do this Take out 1 stick of ram and try booting it up

if it does not boot up

Okay, so I've done what you told me to do and it boots! I took out the stick I used the first time and inserted the other stick and it booted too. What does this mean?

Wait

so it boots with BOTH sticks in at the same time? or it boots with EACH stick in at a single time?

also did you plug them into the same slot both times?

It boots with either stick in the second slot, but not at the same time.
