Hi,

I was wondering whether my computer would be able to handle displaying 4k. I'm not planning on gaming at 4k but I wanted to know whether I could stream/watch 4k videos.

I have:

 Intel i5-6400, 8GB DDR4 RAM, a GTX 960.

I don't know what would limit me to something below 4k. So if anyone could let me know if I need to upgrade anything or if I'll should be okay with what I have that would be very appreciated.

Thanks, Michael

Should be fine. It has more to do with your internet speed than anything at this point.

CPU - FX 8350 @ 4.5GHZ GPU - Radeon 5700  Mobo - M5A99FX Pro R2.0 RAM - Crucial Ballistix 16GB @ 1600 PSU - Corsair CX600M CPU Cooler - Hyper 212 EVO Storage - Samsung EVO 250GB, WD Blue 1TB

If you were planning on streaming from the internet from say Netflix or Amazon, you can't. Not because of a performance reason, but because DRM shenanigans. In order to play content from those services, you need PlayReady 3.0 hardware, which at the moment is only available on Intel Kaby Lake or later, AMD Ryzen or later, GeForce 10, and Radeon RX 400/500.

Otherwise, for any other 4K video, that setup is fine. The only hiccup is if you were going to use HDMI.
