Hey guys, looking for some advice,

I am starting to get back into PC Gaming but with the specs I have at the moment I'm struggling to even run League of Legends or Fortnite.

I am on a 1150 Socket Board and would just like to update my CPU First, I'm not looking for something to run everygame at 4k, 60fps.

I've found a couple of i7 4770's for sale for cheap, but am worried that they are considered obsolete now. I have a r9 280x but will probably update to something around a GTX 1060/70.

Will this be a good enough combo to run games like Fortnite, GTA, PUBG and League smoothly in only 1080p?

And if there is any common problems with the i7 4770 please inform me. Thank you!

far from it, most of us wouldn't even bat an eye if you paired it with a 1080/ti. it's still got life left in it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

So would be a good purchase to freshen up my PC? Coming from a G3258,  Along with another 8gb of ram and I should be set

Yup, if you can get it for a good price, go for it. I still run an i7-4790K and it runs everything I throw at it just fine, without me overclocking it at all. The only reason I'd want to upgrade is for 4K Netflix, but I don't even have a 4K screen because 1) they're overpriced, and 2) no OS has suitable DPI scaling properly implemented yet. On the other hand, Netflix's 4K requiring a 7th gen or newer CPU is 100% artificially implemented in software, which just means they want me to acquire content elsewhere instead of providing it to me as part of the subscription I already pay for.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Sounds perfect, the netflix and youtube 4k isn't a worry for me as I have a 4k TV paired with Apple TV so that's not a worry. Thank you

If you're playing at 1080p for these games or even 1440p in *most* cases, the 4770 will absolutely crush them when paired with even your current graphics card.

Always remember that nothing is obsolete to you until it stops doing what you want it to do or starts bottlenecking your new components. You can buy the most expensive CPU on the market, give it six months to a year and it'll be surpassed.
