Is it true that having a full SSD can affect/decrease performance?

If so, why is it like that and how much space should i keep free like 20%?

Just curious because i read many different opinions about this.

You should always have some free space on a drive, having it 100% full can cause issues with the file system.

 

SSDS have wear leveling, and extra space lets it work better, normally 10% is fine, depends on the exact drive and os/filesystem and use case.
