What will be the best budget upgrade on a 1155 socket from a i5 3570

The only place to go really from a 3570 is to a 3770 or 3770K. You can get them for about £100 on eBay and they come up quite frequently.

I have an Asus P8H61 so may have to consider changing

If you need to replace the board as well, you're going to be spending a hell of a lot more. Used LGA 1155, especially Z chipset, boards are expensive. It will almost certainly cost you more than the CPU.

I wouldn't really recommend changing the board so you can overclock a K SKU, it's not worth the cost. Best option in terms of value is to go for a 3770 for £100 and keep your existing board. There's loads of them on eBay.

only upgrade path is the i7-3770/3770k or E3 XEON v2 (board supported).

otherwise, to reuse your RAM, the 4000/5000 series CPU and mobo is next.

Ah alright sounds alright then to keep the board and RAM to be more cost effective.

How much performance increase would I get from going for a 3770k

0-5% in game, productivity apps would benefit mostly due to the hyper-threading.
