Gaming laptop or Newer Console?

Go to solution Solved by Mira Yurizaki,

Well that's the point, I'm going into this busy ass year.

Well, you have your answer, a laptop is likely going to be better.

Also since you have $1000 laying around, I would put the Dell Inspiron 15 7577 in the lot.

You see, I'm in the middle of a predicament here.

I have $1000 laying around, and i thought that i will treat myself with games. So yeah, should i pick that Xbox One X/PS4 Pro for like 1/3 the price of this laptop I'm looking at, Asus GL503VD 1060?

If i should choose them console, which one and why? PS: I can pick a good 4K HDR TV with it.

I'm actually leaning towards the Laptop because who doesn't know ROG? Okay its the bragging right that I'm most excited about. Don't judge me. But if i choose the Laptop I'm a wee worried about the longevity/lifespan of it. I mainly plays lighter titles like PUBG, RoS, Fortnite, and CSGO. Thats said, i would like to play some AAA games once in a while like the upcoming Far Cry 5.

So yeah, a little help for my unsure and doubtful lil heart will be nice :)

Look at the games you want to play.

If they happen to be on console, get a console.

If not, then not.

Take a look at the PS4 exclusives for a start.

I see some good stuff there like GT, RDR2(?), and Infamous.

But why should i avoid laptops?

RDR2??

But then you answered your question, you want a PS4 PRO, easy as that.

Loud, loose value very quickly, expensive as hell.

I'm not a fan of not upgradable gaming laptops...

I would totally recommend you get a used gaming laptop because the price's of them drop really quickly and you can snag a deal on a nice one for not too much money.

Consoles are a good idea, but consider that you are going to have to buy more controllers($60-80 each) and games which cost way more on a console.

@ me if you want me to respond  :))

I heard this one is decent, true, I'm looking at this $1000 with i7 and GTX 1060 6gb. Is it a bad deal?

The only thing that might be upgradeable are SSD's, RAM, and HDD :/

Why? For what purpose??

Not necessarily true.
Some/many games cost the same on both.

Some cost like 10€ more

And some are only available on Console.

For example try Horizon Zero Dawn, Killzone, Order 1886, Infamous (First Light + Second Son) on PC...

That's funny, the Original Xbox one is still louder than any laptop I have ever worked with.

I avoid used laptops because most jackass will sell them way overpriced :( and the difference between GTX 9 and 10 is too big to ignore

I agree to some extent if you are willing to wait and look for a good deal then go for the laptop...Laptops also have several other uses like video editing, portability, ext

But if you don't want to deal hunt or spend more for something higher quality then just get a ps4

The thing with both of these are, how long it will last? That's what I'm worried about.

We already hear some news about next gen console, so my purchase might be obsolete in like 2 years max.

I have no idea how long these Gaming Laptop will last either (Note that I'm not a graphic intensive guy, i would rather have high FPS than sub 30 with high graphic).

Why would you get a laptop for gaming on? What's the point of paying a lot more for lesser hardware to play on a tiny screen?

The ones that Linus reviewed? Thanks I'll definitely check it out.

Ps: why not Console though? I still can carry it around hotels and stuff :) just wondering

My experience with hotel TVs are they're finicky with plugging extra stuff in. Sure it's there, but it may not work. Plus if you're say waiting in an airport lounge and you want to do something, you can't exactly take out the console and play it.

If you had different tastes in games, I'd say Switch is great for both travel and home. But doesn't seem like it offers what you want, so get a laptop.

I've never used any hotel TVs so I have no idea how viable plugging in a console is there.
