How come Surface book 2 with i7-8th gen with nVidia GTX 1060 is inferior with Acer Helios 300 when gaming AND how cam Acer Helios 300 becomes inferior with Surface book 2 when it comes to productivity when it has the advantage in gaming wherein in gaming requires huge raw power of CPU and GPU? PLEASE enlighten me. Linus ignores my comment :( .

Without reading all the specs i remember something about the new surface book having a quadcore CPU which is a huge difference with a dualcore for productivity. For games however a more powerfull GPU is often more important.

1060 in Surface Book 2 15 is technically a Max-Q version as it has a customized profile that slightly lowers the power consumption (and clock speed) to keep temperature and fan noise in check. 8650U in Surface Book 2 15 is technically faster than 7700HQ, but fall short in prolonged multi core load.

@Shnxxx If I'm not mistaken, the 8650u in the Surface Book 2 is passively cooled, and therefore unable to maintain its max turbo speed for very long.

Nope. Surface Book 2 15 has active cooling. The 13.5 model has passive cooling.

The problem is the thin chassis, causing temperature issues and thermal throttling. Yes the power limit can be changed but...useless. Unfortunately repaste is not possible due to poor serviceability.

wow guys! Thank you for your answers! I suddenly remembered that I forgot to see more the details of them. But I learned something, more CPU power, good for productivity and more GPU, good for gaming.

I have a follow-up question, it is true that CPU power is good for productivity, but how much factor does CPU power affects gaming? Imagine this as for example, let's say an i5-7th gen with a 'U' with nVidia 1080 compared with i7-8th gen with a 'K' with nvidia 920MX.
