Hey! I am currently running a ryzen 5 1600, 16gb vengeance 3000, and the aorus gtx 1060 6gb. I'm deciding whether I want my first upgrade to be either a 1080 (possibly ti) or the soon to release ryzen 2700x. My main curiosity is if the ryzen 1600 would be a bottleneck for a more powerful GPU? Because if so my first upgrade will definitely be CPU. Thanks for any help!!

yeah... 1080ti + 1600 are not gonna be good friends.

(ofc, depends on workload/resolution, but in general)

upgrade the cpu to a 1700 and you should be doing great.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

For gaming the difference between a 1600 and a 1700 is at worst 5%

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Would it be worth waiting for the zen+ release in the coming month or so? I would like to be able to wait a while before upgrading again.

Wait for zen2, zen2+ or even zen3.  Just get the last cpu to release that's compatible with AM4 and get the best one on the product stack (assuming you have a decent motherboard, if you don't pick a year, say, 2021 and buy the best chip and mobo thats on the market and in your budget)

Start with gpu believe me they won't bottleneck each other much as there is no need for better cpu in near future btw what is your reason to upgrade if you do not intend to buy 4k display there is no reason to upgrade your current setup can run 1080p anything you trow at it and 1440p most of the titles

A 1600 and 1700 are the same for gaming performance, that's a total waste.

Mostly just want to game at 1440 21:9 at the best frame rates possible. Might be overkill for a bit, but I'd like to be set for as long as possible. I don't have the money to upgrade too frequently.
