Yep you can only install windows on a macbook. It works fine, you just need the apple drivers.

So, since I am going to upgrade my macbook pro ( ssd+16 gigs of ram ) I was wondering if I could only install windows 10 on my macbook pro without installing mac os.

Hold down the option key while the computer boots and select your windows usb. Then snag a copy of bootcamp drivers and you will be good to go.
