Best mid - high end 144hz - 240hz monitors?

I want to upgrade my very old VGA monitor to something more recent.

The main features im looking for is a high refresh rate and DP connection if possible. I'm living in Ireland so please no links to american websites etc.

I would be still amazed and be able to manage with a 144hz monitor, but why not spend a fraction of the costs to get better performance.
