Dell UP3218K Quadro P5000 or Titan XP

BINETWORKS

Hello everyone,

I have been searching for a while and for me it is still a bit unclear if the "slower" Quadro P5000 has any real world advantages over the Titan XP when driving the Dell 8K display.

My workstation is up for a refresh and I want to opt for the 8K monitor. I'm fully aware of all the early adoption risks but the additional real estate is just to tempting.

I currently have an older Dell Precision with an UP3214Q and Quadro K5200 which I have been using for 3 years and is getting a bit slow.

What I'm after is some real world experiences with using the UP3218K with either one of them. I don't really game a lot and if I do then they're not really graphics intensive.

The main use of the new setup will be for ArcGIS Pro, Tablau, Matlab and occasionally Illustrator.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

The key word with Quadro vs. Geforce and Titan is certification. If your GPU has certficitation for your software, it'll have superior performance. In AutoCAD for instance, a Quadro P600 can outperform a GTX1070. If there is no such thing for your software, a Titan is probably more than good enough and don't Quadros actually propose any major benefits.

ArcGIS is mostly CPU dependant (6-10 cores is required/recommended) and doesn't have special Quadro requirements, same goes for Matlab, Tableau and Illustrator.

Why don't you go 4k surround? I'm pretty sure multiple 4ks is much better than one 8k. You'll need insane scaling (which looks shitty) in order to even see stuff on the 8k display on just 32".

You should really go to a store and try one before buying.

Oh and OT: if an XP supports 8k it's the better choice.
