Can i use my old CPU cooler in my new system

So im som gonna build a new system, probably with a i5 8400 or i5-8600k and was wondering if i should just use my current CPU cooler in my new system. My current CPU is i5-750 and the cooler is artic freezee Extreme. What do you guys Think? Is my cooler any good and should i use it even through it’s kindda old? :)

If the brackets you have are matching the brackets of 1151(doesn't matter v1 or v2) then it should work.

You can and you should, though make sure you clean the cooler's base and reapply the thermal paste.

and cpu cooler has not gotten a hole lot better since this one came out? Like it would not be a huge noticeable difference if I bought for example the cooler master 212 hyper evo? :)

hyper 212 and its variants are terribly weak compared to yours. Air coolers didnt improve all that much through time in performance, so even old ones will do.

it will mount and work just fine, LGA1156 and LGA1151 have the same cooler mounting holes as any other LGA115x socket

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Sure, just get the compatibility list.

And make sure it fits.

The EVO is probably a little better. 

 

Something like cryorig h7 runs rings around the 212 evo for a similar price however.

The one you have now is actually a tad worse. That said, I wont recommend getting the Hyper 212 for that little performance gain.

Not so much that immediate upgrade would be needed. If anything, fans have improved and you can try with new fan first if you aren't happy with performance.
