Hello!

I got an issue. Router works, but no internet.

I remmember the guy who ser it up messed with port binding. And for some reason today it reseted to factory settings.

I need to set port binding again. Need your help with that.

I know that when he was setting it up he enabled and disabled few ports in high speed internet AD and VD.

Lan 1 is other router (used for wifi only)

Lan 2 is my pc

Lan 3 is not anything, empty

Lan 4 is main internet cable

Which one do i disable/enable?

Take a look at screenshot (couldnt take it with pc because of no internet of course, had to use phone)

Thanks for reading

Sorry if i didnt provide more info but if you need any more, tell me, i will try my best.

Have a good day.

I'm not certain what port binding is nor what AD & VD are and Google isn't really helping me. I'm well familiar with port forwarding but not binding. @leadeater You probably will have better insight on this than I do.

Are you sure this is required? Most consumer type routers are pretty plug'n'play.

You said that the LAN 4 is the "main internet cable" this is an Ethernet port correct? Most WAN transmissions are done over coax, fibre, serial data lines, or phone wire (DSL). An ISP provided Ethernet cable isn't common though I hear it is sometimes used. Does your home have another box that this "main internet cable" plugs into before exiting to the street? This would be the modem and most commonly has a coax/fibre/DSL line that goes out to the road. I've had experiences doing jobs where the modem wouldn't be running DHCP and I didn't have access to the modem requiring me to dial up the ISP and giving them the ID of the modem so they could remote in and tell me the network the modem was programmed for so I could go into the router and manually set up the WAN port.

In short I'm saying it's possible the WAN interface doesn't have an IP hence no internet but I could be wrong.

Actually no. My mistake. I have no idea what lan 4 is. Main cable that comes from splitter is DSL. Lan4 goes into the wall, cant trace it now kids are asleep, 12AM at the moment.

The guy who was setting up this moved everything and i have no idea what goes where now. And i paid a lot for his service.

The only thing he told me is this AD and VD thingy. Which i forgot what i need to check/uncheck.

On router, DSL is blinking and there is no internet light.

And yes google isnt helping much with this binding thingy. That is why i asked here.

So you have an active DSL connection to the modem at least.

Are you certain you have no internet at all? Did you try pinging to outside your network like 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4? (Googles primary and secondary DNS)

If these pings are successful it could be a DNS issue but I'd check leadeaters suggestion first. If the modem has gone back to factory defaults then you're probably missing your public IP and a configuration file that the ISP uploads to your modem to get you online. If this is the case you'll have to consult their website or customer support. Sometimes customer support is the only option with issues like that.
